What is ffflink.com
The ffflink.com is a web based resource to cultivate fairy related material, with a focus on fairy gardening. It was founded by Simon and Nicolette DeVille in 2023 as a means to bring all the things they love under one roof. After carefully considering what means to bring our family, friends, and new folks together the decision would be made to be through a blog website. This website hosts information related to cultivating a fairy garden, and fairies in general. We also include fairy friends and family from our journeys as we travel across the state of Washington, blogging as we go. Sections include Captain’s logs, fairy Gardening, guest features, and a great co pilot log as well. All items centered around your favorite theme, fairies.

Naming of the Flying Fairy Fortress
In 2014, our cherished home, known as the “Fairy Kingdom,” was lost. As we faced the imminent threat of its destruction, we sought resources to safeguard our beloved fairies from the harsh winter. Despite the unforgiving timing in the midst of December, we had to find a new kingdom. We sold most of our possessions, except for what fit in our small 8 x 8 foot bedroom. Anything that didn’t fit was sold to reduce our belongings and increase our funds. Once we scraped together $1,500, we reached out to the world in search of assistance. We needed to acquire an RV or trailer, something that would shield us from nature’s elements. We didn’t hesitate and were even willing to travel to Seattle in our compact KIA. We embarked on a thorough exploration of how we would sustain our future way of life. Responding to an advertisement, we journeyed to a remote farm on the outskirts of town.
There, amidst a snow drift, sat the longest, whitest, and most impressive school bus we had ever laid our eyes on. The seller asked for $1,300, as the bus had been painted white due to its previous ownership by the local Shriners, who used it to transport their small cars to events. Its original school bus appearance was not legally acceptable. Essentially, it had been converted into a toy hauler for the Shriners. Although some work was required, the bus would comfortably accommodate the five of us: Nicolette, myself, and our three furry companions, Jackson, Sabastian, and California. We knew it would take some time to regain stability. As we entered the bus, we noticed only two seats remained—the captain’s chair and the front seat next to the door. Looking down the gutted bus, all we saw were marks on the floor where the seats had been and the newly installed 2 x 4 slips to replace them. Stepping inside, we were reminded of the absence of natural shelter amenities. We had numerous ideas, but the reality was that it was the middle of winter. We had just left a difficult battle, which we had essentially lost, and now we needed time to heal before we could create anew. We understood that the gap in the back emergency door and the floor were just the beginning of the small “issues” we would need to address. Despite having the necessary funds, we declined the offer, returned to our car, and reassured ourselves that we had made the right decision.
Soon after, we received a response from our brother, Bear. He had found a suitable vehicle online. We wasted no time and immediately went to check it out. It turned out to be a 1978 Ford Roll-a-long C class RV. The seller explained that it had previously served as a mobile motel for his band, Wolves in the Woods. At that moment, Nicolette and I knew it was the one. We hadn’t even seen the interior, yet my late father, Wolf, seemed to guide us towards this choice. He had passed away on October 3, 2013, and his loss was deeply felt in our battle for the Fairy Kingdom. Stepping inside our new Fairy Fortress, the immediate scent of beer, alcohol, and late-night revelry overwhelmed us. The seller confessed that they had removed the water system to make room for the band’s musical equipment. This vehicle had merely served as storage. Nevertheless, we knew it would become our home. After a brief discussion outside, we handed over $1,200 and drove away. We now had our own home, which we parked in the backyard, ready to embark on our escape from the crumbling Fairy Kingdom. I asked Nicolette, “What do you think we should name her?” She replied, “We should have a fortress-like name, something akin to a Flying Fairy Castle.” At the time, Nicolette had introduced her preferred anime, and the name “Howl’s Moving Castle” naturally came to mind. It was a powerful name, befitting something that appeared ramshackle and eccentric but transformed to meet Howl’s needs when necessary. Simon remarked, “We went from the Fairy Kingdom to the Flying Fairy Fortress,” just like what the RV was about to become. It marked the birth of the DeVilles and our journey through life.
After settling in, we devised a five-year plan to acquire a larger and more luxurious home, possibly an A-class RV. We found ourselves in the care of a horse breeder, taking care of her property and stables while she supported us. Our bond grew stronger, and she decided to upgrade our living situation. We spent several weeks searching for the right new fortress. While exploring the countryside, we each stumbled upon a vehicle that caught our attention. It was a well-loved 2000 Bounder, previously owned by an elderly couple. We inherited a splendid new home that appeared brand new in every aspect. We thought it wise to retain the name “Flying Fairy Fortress” but add a letter, reminiscent of Star Trek style. Thus, this RV became “The Flying Fairy Fortress – A.” Additionally, we couldn’t overlook the fact that it belonged to the A-class category. We have enjoyed this home for many years now, traversing the state of Washington while maintaining the essence of our original Fairy Fortress. We have extensively renovated the entire interior and are considering yet another upgrade. If we proceed, the subsequent vehicle shall be known as “The Flying Fairy Fortress – B.” Who knows what the future holds.
